The Peterborough Phantoms are happy to announce the re-signing of defenceman, Tom Barry!
The 25 year old from Sheffield has played the majority of his career in the Steel City, progressing through their junior ranks and into the Steeldogs’ team.
In 2014/15, Baz played a handful of games for the Widnes Wild as he continued his progression towards a regular spot in British hockey’s second division. The following year, the stay at home defenceman made one appearance for the Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite League whilst also icing 40 times for the Steeldogs.
2018/19 was his best season in terms of point production, as he notched 12 points in 35 games from the Steeldogs blue line. In his first session in Peterborough, he grabbed one goal and seven assists for eight points in 45 games.
Baz said the following on his return: “I can’t wait to get back to Peterborough and get back to it! Last year was personally a good year for me but I’m looking to coming back even better. I’ve been training hard all summer with Matt Croyle from inside edge hockey to get ready for the upcoming season. Slava is a great coach to work with and he’s made some nice additions to the team this year so we can challenge for every trophy this year. I feel like the team has a point to prove this year! It’s going to be a great year!”
“Tom showed a lot of improvement from the start of the season to the end and he’s a great guy to have in the locker room. We have lots of competition across the line up this year and we’re happy to have Tom back to add to that and to continue his own development as part of our team!” said Phantoms Head Coach, Slava Koulikov.
