The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms would like to announce that Sue Ryder have been chosen as the charity of the year for the remainder of 2022 and 2023.

Sue Ryder are a nationwide charity that support people who are living with a terminal illness, a neurological condition or who have lost someone. Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice is based in Peterborough and delivers expert and compassionate palliative care both in hospice and at home.

As part of our partnership with Sue Ryder, our home game on March 5th vs Leeds Knights will be dedicated to the nurses, staff and volunteers at the hospices around the country. We will be designing and releasing limited edition Sue Ryder game jerseys for this game with the profits of all the jerseys going back to the charity! These jerseys will be released in due course.

Director Lee Thomas commented the following “It is great to have appointed Sue Ryder as our charity of the year! The nurses and staff do an amazing job all year round, and with them having a hospice in Peterborough it is a great cause to support that is local to us!

We look forward to working with Sue Ryder this year at our home games but also out in the community.”

Community Fundraiser Asif Shaheed said “Sue Ryder is over the moon that The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms has chosen us as their charity of the year. We’re excited with the prospect of working with them to not only raise funds but to also have the opportunity to engage with the community and raise awareness of the fantastic work that our nurses and staff perform day in and day out.

Thank you so much for your support and I look forward to building our relationship for the great and good of both parties.”

Throughout the season Sue Ryder will have bucket collectors at our home games in order to raise money for the charity!
