The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the re-signing of Latvian born forward, Martins Susters.
The 24-year-old forward re-joined the Phantoms in December of 2023 having previously played for the club between 2014/15 – 2016/17 and again between 2018 and 2020.
During his time with the Phantoms, Martins has played 218 games, notching an impressive 212 points along the way. He has shown he is not only great at goal scoring, but also creating them with 99 goals and 112 assists so far in a Phantoms jersey!
Martins commented the following on his return: “I am happy to be back playing in front of the best fans in the league! Easy decision for me, knowing Slava for many years not only as a coach but as a person so that was a no brainer. He is the best coach in the league and does great things year in year out with the team. I am looking forward to playing with some new and old faces. For sure it will be another great season and battle for silverware.”
Head coach, Slava Koulikov commented: “I am really happy to have Martins from start of the season this year! We all know what Martins brings to the team, he brings offence! Martins is a high end skilled forward who can set up line mates or find the goal out of nothing with his great release! It was difficult to retain full form after not player for over 2 years, all of the league saw what happened in 21/22 season and how players struggled and after 18 months off. Martins showed some great hockey in January, two performances that really stood out are the double header wins against Leeds when he scored 4 goals in those games! Unfortunately injury restricted Martins to perform to his best in the closing stages of the season. Martins knows our team and our philosophy well and with four summer months prepping his body with hockey specific workouts, I have no doubt he will be healthy and become once again, one of our franchise players next season!”
