The Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to confirm the return of our top goal scorer from the 2021/22 season, Duncan Speirs!

The 24 year old Scotsman was made to wait for his Phantoms debut, having originally agreed to join the club for the 2020/21 season, which was lost due to COVID-19.

But he stuck with his decision to move south after leaving the Dundee Stars in the Elite League, and instantly became a big part of the plans in Peterborough.

A former GB U20 International, Speirs brings good experience to the Phantoms roster despite still only being 24, having played in the NIHL1 with Solway, and the Sheffield Steeldogs, and in the Elite League with the Edinburgh Capitals and Dundee Stars.

In his first season as a Phantom, he burst into life in the second half of the term and ended the regular season on 29 goals and 26 assists for 55 points in. 48 games, before adding a further six points in eight playoff games.

Slava said the following on Speirs’ return: “It was a no brainer to bring Duncan back. He was brilliant in the second half of the year last year once he’d regained his sharpness after the long break without hockey. If he can start this season the way he finished the last one, he’ll be one of the top point scorers in the league and we’re really pleased to have him back with us to do what he does best!”

And this is what Duncan said: “Hi Phantoms fans, I’m glad to be back this year! Can’t wait to get going again this year, to build from where we left off and compete for silverware. See yous all soon!”
