The Phantoms took on the Hull Seahawks in the final Playoff group game before heading to Coventry, booking their slot the night before with an Overtime win in Hull.

The Seahawks mounted pressure early once the game had begun but it would be the Phantoms who broke the deadlock on 7:16 as Luke Ferrara’s shot from the left circle managed to find its way past Dominic Smith in the Hull net following an excellent breakout pass from Callum Buglass.

The Seahawks would get their equaliser 3 minutes later when Bobby Chamberlain found the puck out in front of the net and shot it past Tyler De La Bertouche. Seahawks would pile on more pressure onto the Phantoms net before Emil Svec received the puck from Tom Stubley and fired a powerful shot into the Phantoms net. The score would remain at 2-1 Seahawks for the end of the first period.

The second period started much like the first with plenty of Seahawks pressure but unlike the first the Seahawks would find a goal through Declan Jones following an odd man rush with Towner and Barry in tow. As Jones would fire over the shoulder of De La Bertouche to extend Hull’s advantage.

The Phantoms then began putting more pressure on which culminated in Ivan Bjorkly Nordstrom lighting the lamp at 24:54 following a drop pass from Louie Kynaston. 6 Seconds after the restart Jamie Chilcott would take a Hooking minor following a good move off the draw by Leo Markey. This allowed the Phantoms powerplay unit to go to work but only for a matter of seconds as Phantoms would win the draw and work the puck to Ferrara who would take aim and score from the right circle 4 seconds into the powerplay levelling the score at 3 a piece.

Hull would then score 3 unanswered through Chamberlain, Bonner and Towner leaving the score at 6-3 with 4 minutes to go. Towner’s goal being the pick of the bunch as he sniped a lovely shot in to the roof of the Phantoms net.

Phantoms would cut the deficit to 2 before the period was out as the veteran Padelek would fire home following a nice play from retiring captain Will Weldon who received the puck from Matthew Saville as he registered his first point as a Phantom.

Once again the period would peter out in the final minutes leaving the score at 6-4 Seahawks with a stanza to play.

The third began with Phantoms pressure and Austin Mitchell-King was unlucky not to find the net on two separate occasions. Phantoms continued to pester the Seahawks net but to no avail as the Seahawks would get some chances of their own through Sobchak and Svec.

With 7 minutes to go as Bobby Chamberlain fired home an insurance marker for the Seahawks. Chamberlain would complete his hat-trick as his strike creeped over the line.

The final minutes involved chances for both sides but no more scoring could be found and the match would finish with a final sore of Peterborough Phantoms 4 - 7 Hull Seahawks.
