The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms claimed their first win of the pre-season by putting eight goals past the Telford Tigers.
Phantoms took the lead early on when Duncan Speirs found Ales Padelek in close and the Czech forward redirected the pass into the Tigers’ net.
That was all there was to report on the first period but Phantoms quickly got things moving in the second. Padelek doubled his tally for the night with a well taken wrist shot after good work from Luke Ferrara.
Tigers pulled it back to within one with 24:30 played as Vladimir Luka capitalised on a breakaway chance to dispatch past Jordan Marr.
But Phantoms regained their two goal advantage with just over half of the game played as Ferrara shot over the shoulder of Matthew Bloor to tally a power play goal.
Scott Robson made it 4-1 at 36:30 with a short handed goal as Martins Susters did well to create the chance and Robson found space in front of net to put puck to twine.
Phantoms continued to apply pressure early in the third and it quickly paid off, as Susters added his own name to the scoresheet, assisted by Will Weldon.
Susters made it six shortly after, showing persistence in front of the Telford net to grab his second of the evening.
Tyler De La Bertouche replaced Jordan Marr in the Phantoms net with just over 11 minutes to play.
Tigers hit back with one of the goals of the night as Luka produced a clever toe drag before ripping an unstoppable shot into the back of the net.
But Phantoms hit straight back as Weldon found Lukas Sladkovsky and he rocketed the shot past Bloor.
And the eighth Phantoms goal of the night came courtesy of Ferrara, slapping home a power play marker from the left circle.
