The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms are thrilled to announce the return of Peterborough born forward Luke Ferrara!

Luke will join the Phantoms for the 23/24 season after having played 9 consecutive seasons in the EIHL for Sheffield Steelers, Coventry Blaze and most recently the Nottingham Panthers.

Luke started his hockey career in the Phantoms junior system, before playing 6 seasons in a Phantoms jersey putting up 237 points in 291 games. The 30-year-old made his EIHL debut with the Sheffield Steelers in 2015, and quickly became the EIHL U23’s Top Goal Scorer in the 15/16 season. Luke then went on to become the British Top Goal Scorer in the EIHL in the 19/20 season with the Coventry Blaze scoring 33 goals.

Head Coach Slava Koulikov said: “We are absolutely thrilled, as I am sure our fans will be, to welcome Luke back home after a successful career in the Elite League. In Luke we are getting a complete package, he is a great person ad teammate who loves this club and will be a true leader on and off the ice. Luke is an all-round player with a high hockey IQ, who competes every night and will make our team better. 10 years ago, Luke and I played on a line together and at such a young age Luke was instrumental to our playoff championship success. Now with gained experience and knowledge at GB and Elite levels, Luke will be invaluable to ur success and I look forward to working with him again!”

Luke Ferrara commented: “I always knew I’d end up playing in my hometown again and I couldn’t be more excited to be joining at this moment! With everything going on in my life it seems like the perfect moment and I couldn’t be happier to be back playing in front of my home fans!”

Luke will play #19 for the 23/24 season, we would like to thank Leo Markey for passing over his number to Luke! Leo Markey will now play #90 for the 23/24 season.
