The Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the re-signing of goaltender, Ryan Bainborough, for the 2022/23 season!

Bainborough began his hockey career in Peterborough, icing for the junior setup, before stepping into senior hockey with the Peterborough Islanders (now Phantoms NIHL2).

His first taste of second division hockey (then-EPL) came in Slough, where he iced for the Jets, before moving onto Chelmsford, Oxford and London Raiders in the seasons which followed.

In 2017/18, Ryan played seven times for the Phantoms’ NIHL2 side, posting an impressive .948 save percentage, earning him a spot on Slava Koulikov’s Phantoms roster the following year.

A popular figure on and off the ice, Ryan now returns for a fifth straight year as a Phantoms goaltender, completing an extremely strong goaltending tandem with Jordan Marr.

And Ryan was clear as to why he had no hesitation in returning to the Phantoms roster: “It’s always team first here, that’s what I love about Peterborough. There’s no ego’s, just a group competing for each other every night! You won’t find a better bunch of lads to play with!”

And Slava said the following on Ryan’s return: “Goaltending is a large percentage in the likelihood of success and we’re really lucky to have two of the best goalies in the league with us. I’m really happy Ryan will be back with us, he’s a really talented goalie and he’s improved his game since he’s been with the team. Ryan and Marrsy make a good team and we’re really happy with our options in goal!”
