The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms can confirm that #77 Martins Susters will not be on the roster for the remainder of the 23/24 season.
Following a concussion at the end of 2023, Martins has decided to sit out for the remainder of the season.
Martins Susters commented: "I would like to firstly thank my family for all of these years in my hockey career. I would like to thank Slava for so many great years as my coach and for so many trophies successfully won. Also, thank you to my teammates and the best fans in the league! I would like to wish the team the best of luck for the rest of the season and hopefully they can achieve great things."
Slava Koulikov commented: "Over the years, Martins has experienced a number of concussions, but the last two came close together – the first one in February and another in November. These incidents led Martins to make a very difficult decision, as he loves hockey deeply, but health must come first.
The entire organisation would like to express gratitude to Martins. His dedication, even in the face of adversity, leaves an indelible mark on our club's success. Thank you for the goals, the grit, and the glory. Your legacy lives on in the heartbeats of every fan and the history of our triumphant journey together.
Personally, I would like to thank Martins for all the years he committed to the club and the success he has been a big part of. It’s been a pleasure to work with him, and I wish him and his family all the best in life after hockey!"
We would like to thank Martins for his 7 years with the Phantoms, and wish him all the best for the future!
Thank you M77
